So I thought I would bring runes back into the public domain.

What are runes after all? Well essentially they are a script where all necessary graphemes can be made with a few strokes of a knife.

Martian runes maximise efficiency!

Martian runes maximise efficiency!

If we take a square and divide it into 4 quadrants and label each of the corners from left to right and top to bottom we will have 9 points. We can draw a line between any two of these points and these lines will be the basis of our rune set.

There are 9C2, or 36 different lines that we can draw. We thus have a maximum of 36 one line runes. This is more than the inefficient Futhark set which includes some runes of 4, 5 and even 6 lines!

And there is so much more!

I have done a great deal more work on this script than is presented here. I have implemented the entire IPA alphabet for example and I have numerous additional graphemes for various purposes, including highly technical ones for advanced mathematics and physics. I have also optimised the whole thing for all usages as far as I could.

I intend to put everything up here in due course along with my finalised font but that time is not yet. Be patient little grasshopper...
